Advice built on rigour, delivered with care.
About Jonathan Dwek, CFA, MFin
I’m Jonathan Dwek, a life and health insurance advisor and mutual fund representative based in Toronto. I help individuals, families and business owners protect what they’ve built and grow what comes next.
I came to this work through finance. As a CFA charterholder with a Master of Finance, I spent years studying how markets, portfolios and risk actually work. What I found was that the people who benefit most from that kind of analysis are often the ones least likely to have access to it. My practice exists to close that gap: rigorous, thoughtful financial advice for everyday families, explained in a way that makes sense.
My Approach
Your Goals First, Then the Plan
I don’t start with products. I start with questions. What are you working toward? Who depends on you? What would happen to your family’s finances if your income stopped tomorrow? What does retirement actually look like for you?
Only once I understand your situation do I recommend anything, and when I do, I’ll walk you through the reasoning so you know exactly what you’re getting and why. My goal is a plan that’s clear, tax-aware and genuinely yours, not one built around what’s easiest to sell.

Qualified to Advise
Credentials and Qualifications
Good financial advice starts with a solid foundation. My education and licensing mean you get recommendations grounded in deep analytical training, delivered by an advisor who is fully qualified to act on them across both insurance and investments.
Who I Work With
Advice for Every Stage
My clients are at every stage of life. Some are young families buying their first life insurance policy or opening an RESP. Some are business owners who need to protect their income and plan for succession. Others are approaching retirement and want confidence that their savings will last. You don’t need a large portfolio to work with me. You just need goals worth planning for.
Questions About Working With Me
Straight answers before you book
Choosing a financial advisor is a big decision, and you deserve to know exactly how I work before we meet. Here are answers to the questions I hear most often.
Because your financial life doesn’t come in separate compartments. Life insurance can play a role in your estate plan, disability and critical illness coverage protect the savings you’re building for retirement, and an RESP and RRSP often compete for the same dollars. Working across both lets me see the whole picture and make sure each piece supports the others.
It means your recommendations are built on rigorous analysis rather than sales targets. The CFA program covers investment analysis, portfolio management and professional ethics in depth, and as a charterholder I’m bound by the CFA Institute Code of Ethics and Standards of Professional Conduct.
I provide independent, personal advice while being backed by Desjardins, one of Canada’s largest and most trusted financial groups. Mutual funds are distributed through Desjardins Financial Security Investments Inc., which gives my clients the stability, resources and regulatory oversight of a major Canadian institution.
The first meeting is complimentary and comes with no obligation. We’ll talk about your goals, review what you already have in place and see whether we’re a good fit. If you have existing policies or investment statements, bring them along, but don’t worry if things aren’t organized. Getting clarity is exactly what the first meeting is for.
A financial plan isn’t something you set and forget. I schedule regular reviews and reach out proactively when life changes, like a new home, a growing family or an approaching retirement, call for an update. And if something comes up in between, I’m a phone call away.
